Admissions process

Glion Admissions Department takes a holistic approach to reviewing the application of every candidate. In addition to academic achievements, we look for candidates who exhibit a passion for the industry, leadership potential, personal drive, creativity and an international mindset.

If you require a visa to study, it is important that you apply early enough to allow time for visa processing. Glion maintains a rolling admissions policy so applications are evaluated as soon as the application, with all pertinent documentation, is received.

Admissions Requirements

Admissions requirements are guidelines and subject to change at any time.  If a degree / transcript is not in English (for UK) or in any other language than English (French/German/Italian for Switzerland) and official certified translation is required.

Undergraduate degree applicants

BBA in Hospitality or Event, Sport and Entertainment Management (for July and October 2017)

Age: Minimum age: 17.5 years

Qualifications: IB diploma, Maturite, Arbitur, French Bac, 3-A levels or equivalent.

English Level: If English is not your mother tongue or if you have not spent the last 3 years in an English speaking school, please enclose a copy of one of the following:

  • IELTS academic module only: minimum 5.5 overall and minimum 5.5 in all sub-components (listening, reading, writing and speaking).

All English certificates must have been issued in the last 12 months prior to admission.

N.B. All candidates will automatically be evaluated whether they fit the criteria for direct admission into the BBA

Glion Preparatory Program:

Candidates who do not meet the requirements for direct admission into the BBA program will be evaluated for the Glion Preparatory Program. For details, see the Glion Preparatory Program flyer

Postgraduate Degree Applicants

Qualifications:

A bachelor's degree or equivalent or 3 years of work experience (not necessarily hospitality-based). Non-degree holders will receive a Professional Development Diploma.

English:

If English is not your mother tongue, please provide a copy of one of the following:

Students requiring a Tier 4 visa:

  • IELTS Academic Module: minimum overall score 6.0 and minimum 6.0 in all sub-sets

Those students not requiring a Tier 4 visa, IELTS as above is accepted and:

  • TOEFL minimum score 585 or 83 for the online test. The TOEFL test code for Glion is 7337.
  • Cambridge First Certificate Exam (FCE): Grade B.
  • Cambridge Advanced Certificate Exam (CAE): any grade

Note: all English certificates must be issued within 12 months prior to admission.

Applicants to postgraduate courses held at Glion London campus need to undertake IELTS UKVI scoring 6.00 in all four sub-components – click here for a list of worldwide test centers.

 

Master of Science Applicants

Qualifications:

Applicants must have a bachelor's degree in hospitality management or any other subject.

English:

If English is not your mother tongue, or if you have not spent the past 3 years in a full-time English-speaking school (detailed list can be provided separately upon request) or working environment, please provide a copy of one of the following from an approved test center :

Students requiring a Tier 4 visa:

  • IELTS Academic Module with minimum overall band score of 6.0 and minimum 6.0 in all sub-components.

Those students not requiring a Tier 4 visa, IELTS as above is accepted and:

  • Minimum TOEFL score of 585 or 83 for the Internet-based test. The TOEFL test code number for Glion Institute of Higher Education is 7337.
  • Cambridge First Certificate Exam (FCE): Grade B.
  • Cambridge Advanced Certificate Exam (CAE): any grade.

Please note: All English certificates must have been issued in the 12 months prior to admission.

References:

Candidates must submit a confidential reference form, which the Admissions Department will send to the candidate upon receipt of their application.

Candidates must submit a confidential reference letter (from either a faculty member or an employer).

 

Master of Business Administration Applicants

Qualifications:

Applicants must have an accredited bachelor's degree in Business, Hospitality, Tourism, or Events or equivalent.

Applicants should have a minimum of 2 years' work experience in hospitality or related business in a supervisory or management position. Applicants must submit work certificates, if available.

English:

If English is not your mother tongue, or if you have not spent the past 3 years in a full-time English-speaking school (detailed list can be provided separately upon request) or working environment, please provide a copy of one of the following from an approved test center 2 :

Students requiring a Tier 4 visa:

  • IELTS Academic Module with minimum overall band score of 6.0 and minimum 6.0 in all sub-components.

Those students not requiring a Tier 4 visa, IELTS as above is accepted and:

  • Minimum TOEFL score of 585 or 83 for the Internet-based test. The TOEFL test code number for Glion Institute of Higher Education is 7337.

Candidates must submit a valid medical certificate and a physician report. 

 

Short Programs

English Language Program:

  • TOEFL: minimum score of 460 points for the paper based test or 42 points for the intemet based test. The TOEFL testing code number for GIHE is 7337.
  • Cambridge First Certificate Exam (FCE): PET - Please also send the Statement of Results with your detailed profile.
  • IELTS: Academic Module minimum overall band score of 4.5 and min. 4.5 in every sub-component Oistening, reading, writing, speaking).

Apply by mail or email

To apply using standard mail or email, start by downloading the application form and fill it out by hand or on your computer. Save it, print it, and sign it. Gather all documents listed in the application documents checklist (available for download). Make a copy of all documents for your own records. 

Mail: Send the originals to the address on the application via registered mail (tracking code).
