Admissions process

Glion Admissions Department takes a holistic approach to reviewing the application of every candidate. In addition to academic achievements, we look for candidates who exhibit a passion for the industry, leadership potential, personal drive, creativity and an international mindset.

If you require a visa to study, it is important that you apply early enough to allow time for visa processing. Glion maintains a rolling admissions policy so applications are evaluated as soon as the application, with all pertinent documentation, is received.

Admissions Requirements

Admissions requirements are guidelines and subject to change at any time.  If a degree / transcript is not in English (for UK) or in any other language than English (French/German/Italian for Switzerland) and official certified translation is required.

Undergraduate degree applicants

For Switzerland:

Age: Minimum age: 17.5 years

Education: IB diploma, Maturite, Arbitur, French Bac, 3-A levels or 12 years of high school or equivalent education.

English Level: If English is not your mother tongue or if you have not spent the last 3 years in an English speaking school, please enclose a copy of one of the following. All English certificates must have been issued in the last 12 months prior to admission.

  • IELTS 5.5 overall (min. 5.0 in every subcomponent) or TOEFL Internet based 72 or TOEFL Paper based 543 or FCE grade C

  • If IELTS is 5.0 overall then the student will need to undertake additional compulsory English support classes (30 hours face-to-face in groups) until the standard is reached (for Switzerland only). This class will be charged at a cost of CHF 1,500. –

  • If IELTS is below 5.0 overall, the student needs to join the English Language Program.

For London, same as above, except:

  • If IELTS is below 5.5 overall then the student needs to join the English Language Program. 

  • Non-EU or EEA passport holders will need to undertake IELTS UKVI: 5.5 overall and min. 5.5 in every subcomponent.

 

Postgraduate Degree Applicants

 

Postgraduate Degrees are offered as early-exit awards for the Master of Science Programs only. Please therefore refer to the respective admission requirements for the Master of Science Switzerland or Master of Science London Campus.

 

Master of Science Applicants

For Switzerland: 

Age: Applicants must be 21 years old

Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent

English: If English is not your mother tongue, or if you have not spent the past 3 years in a full-time English-speaking school (detailed list can be provided separately upon request) or working environment, please provide a copy of one of the following. Note: all English certificates must be issued within 12 months prior to admission.

  • IELTS overall 6.0 (minimum 5.5 in every subcomponent)
  • TOEFL minimum score 585 or 83 for the online test. The TOEFL test code for Glion is 7337.
  • Cambridge First Certificate Exam (FCE): Grade B

For London, same as above, except:

  • Non-EU or EEA passport holders will need to undertake IELTS UKVI: 6 overall and min. 6 in every subcomponent – click here for a list of worldwide test centers.

References:

  • Candidates must submit a confidential reference form, which the Admissions Department will send to the candidate upon receipt of their application.
  • Candidates must submit a confidential reference letter (from either a faculty member or an employer).

 

Master of Business Administration Applicants

For Switzerland: 

Age: Minimum 24 years old

Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent

Professional Experience: Minimum of 2 years' work experience in hospitality or related business in a supervisory or management position. Applicants must submit work certificates, if available.

English: If English is not your mother tongue, or if you have not spent the past 3 years in a full-time English-speaking school (detailed list can be provided separately upon request) or working environment, please provide a copy of one of the following. All English certificates must have been issued in the 12 months prior to admission.

  • IELTS overall 6.0 (minimum 5.5 in every subcomponent)

  • TOEFL Internet based 83 or TOEFL Paper based 585 The TOEFL test code number for Glion Institute of Higher Education is 7337

  • Cambridge First Certificate Exam (FCE): grade B

For London, same as above, except:

  • Non-EU or EEA passport holders will need to undertake IELTS UKVI: 6 overall and min. 6 in every subcomponent-  click here for a list of worldwide test centers.

References:

Short Programs

English Language Program:

  • TOEFL: minimum score of 460 points for the paper based test or 42 points for the intemet based test. The TOEFL testing code number for GIHE is 7337.
  • Cambridge First Certificate Exam (FCE): PET - Please also send the Statement of Results with your detailed profile.
  • IELTS: overall band score of 4.5

Summer Academy: 

  • Age: Between 15-17 years. (Students should be younger than 18 years of age)
  • English: IELTS 4.5 or TOEFL Internet based 42 or TOEFL Paper based 460 or FCE PET level.

Apply by mail or email

To apply using standard mail or email, start by downloading the application form and fill it out by hand or on your computer. Save it, print it, and sign it. Gather all documents listed in the application documents checklist (available for download). Make a copy of all documents for your own records. 

Mail: Send the originals to the address on the application via registered mail (tracking code).

Email: Scan and send the documents to: info@glion.edu.
