New England Association of Schools and Colleges
Glion Institute of Higher Education is accredited at university level by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, Inc. through its Commission on Institutions of Higher Education.

NEASC is one of six regional accrediting bodies recognized by the US Secretary of Education. Glion is accredited at university level which means it is allowed to deliver its own undergraduate and graduate awards.

How well do you understand accreditation? FAQs

  •  Does accreditation ensure that a program will be good quality?
Accreditation is valid for the entire institution, not for programs. An “accredited” university meets the Standards for Accreditation established by an accrediting agency. The accreditation awarded by NEASC and its Commission on Institutions of Higher Education bases itself on a set of 10 standards (Mission and Purposes, Planning and Evaluation, Organization and Governance, The Academic Program, Faculty, Students, Library and Other Information Resources, Physical and Technological Resources, Financial Resources, Public Disclosure, Integrity and periodic reviews.
  • Are there different levels of accreditation?
NEASC is a large accrediting body. It is composed of 2 main levels of accreditation: the CTCI (Commission on Technical and Career Institutions) and the CIHE (Commission on Institutions of Higher Education). The NEASC CTCI is accrediting institutions at vocational diploma level only, and is not a degree level accreditation. Glion is accredited through the CIHE to deliver undergraduate and graduate degrees.
  •  Are institutes who use a partner university to accredit their program accredited?
Non-accredited institutions (not allowed to deliver their own degree) often use third party institutions to award degrees. The value of such a partnership is only as the value of  the third party institution and its standards and control processes.
  • What other universities are accredited by NEASC?
NEASC and its CIHE accredits many colleges in New England and abroad. Among the accredited institutions, one can find 4 of the top 10 universities in the world (Harvard, Yale, MIT, and Princeton). In Switzerland, only 3 institutions can claim to be accredited by NEASC. These are Glion, Les Roches (both passed accreditation review in 2011) and EHL (due in 2013).

For more details about accreditation, download this Basic Guide to Accreditation.

Accreditation by NEASC is not partial,  it applies to the institution as a whole. As such, this recognition is not a guarantee of every course or program offered, or the competence of individual graduates. However, accreditation provides reasonable assurance about the quality of services and opportunities available to students who attend the institution.

Inquiries regarding the accreditation status by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges should be directed to the administrative staff of the institution. Individuals may also contact:
