Internships & Careers

During their studies at Glion Institute of Higher Education, students following both undergraduate and postgraduate courses will complete one or two professional program-related internships.

The internship experience allows students to apply the skills and knowledge they have gained during their academic semesters, and develop real-life awareness of industry standards. They will also discover their personal strengths and deepen their knowledge of the dynamic, multicultural fields of either the Hospitality or Leisure industry.

Hospitality Internship

The internship placement process depends on each program and on whether it is the first or second internship. Students receive guidance to find an internship that best suits their skills and other important criteria, such as spoken language, visa/work permit restrictions and location preferences.  The internships are documented and evaluated for academic credit.

To assist students with their placement, the internship team provides a variety of services:

  • Introduction to hiring practices including CV preparation, interview skills and internship research methods.
  • Receiving and publishing internship opportunities and completing the necessary follow up.
  • Social Media Course.
  • Continued support during internship, when needed.

Event, Sport and Entertainment (ESE) Internships

For the ESE program internships, the approach to placement is different. This is in part due to the complexity and spontaneous nature of this fast-moving sector, and also to the broad spectrum and diversity of the areas it covers.

ESE students therefore need to be fully involved in the search procedure. To ensure this additional assistance is provided by means of a specially designed course. Overall, the ESE students benefit from the same guidance and support services as the Hospitality students.
