Glion Institute of Higher Education’s students organize a Community Clean up Event
Glion Institute of Higher Education’s students launched their first community clean up event. On their own initiative, a group of Glion students decided to gather on a Friday afternoon to clean the Glion village. Enthusiastic about the idea to give back to the community, they decided to implement this activity on a regular basis.
On an autumnal Friday afternoon, more than a dozen students from Glion Institute of Higher Education (GIHE) gathered to clean the village that welcomes them. After a couple of hours, and a few full bin bags later, they came back on campus to be congratulated by the staff.
‘It was a great team effort and demonstration of Glion Spirit. People who drove or walked past us smiled and waved to show their appreciation. I think all of us felt good about giving back to the community.’ explains Linus Fredberg, Campus Life leader. It is under his direction that this event was organized. ‘I would like to thank the community president and Glion alumni Mr. Anthony Huys for coming here and showing his support for our event. His presence boosted the moral even more.’ Kieun Ko, residential supervisor, adds that this kind of social activity will happen regularly in the future.
