Mission:

The Glion Institute of Higher Education offers management-focused programmes for the hospitality and other service industries. With an emphasis on both didactic and craft-based learning, GIHE is European in its outlook, Swiss in its work ethos, and multi-national in its student body. All programmes emphasize the development of generic thinking skills, the understanding of contemporary management theory, and the integration of theory and practice. The “Glion spirit” and GIHE's academic programmes prepare for rapid progress to managerial positions.

Glion Hotel School

Serving the overall mission of the Institution, Glion Hotel School offers programmes in the field of Hospitality, which seek to develop professional competencies. To achieve this, the School provides students with traditional didactic and craft based learning environments.

Furthermore, special attention is given to encouraging students to apply the 'Swiss work ethos' through a structured living environment and the promotion of the 'Glion Spirit'.

Programmes of study develop an understanding of a broad range of hospitality and business related subjects. Towards the end of their degree students may choose to focus on one area of study by choosing a specialisation for their degree. Students develop generic thinking skills, and where possible, theory and practice are integrated to enhance learning.

Students who graduate typically start their careers at a supervisory or assistant management level, rapidly moving on towards management positions. They have a range of choices in terms of work environments within the hospitality industry. These include hotels, catering companies, conference & leisure centres, restaurants, cruise liners, tourism offices and specialised financial firms.

“The famous ”Glion Spirit” takes its full meaning in this privileged, international, and friendly living environment.”

Glion Sports Management School

Serving the overall mission of the Institution, Glion Sports Management School offers sport, leisure and event management programmes. These are designed to prepare students to start a career at a supervisory or junior management level in the industry, including resorts, leisure complexes, sport facilities and sport events.

Students develop generic thinking skills, and where possible, theory and practice are integrated to enhance learning.

Students are able to progress to initial employment or further study at the end of these programmes. The degree programme anticipates graduates will aspire to higher management positions in the international sports and leisure industries.
