Glion offers a variety of state-of-the-art programmes to cater to aspiring Event, Sport and Entertainment Management professionals.

Sports, Leisure and Event Management Programmes

Bachelor Degree

Glion's Bachelor degree programmes are designed for career-minded individuals who want to become leaders and executives. Each programme is 3+ years in length, including 2 required internships of 3 to 6 months in length. Students can choose from one of 4 academic tracks:

BA in Event Management

The business of event marketing plays a key role in the marketplace, and a degree in this track is as sought-after as it is practical. Students learn the elemental workings of the event industry and the environmental changes that drive its growth.

BA in Entertainment Management

This degree encompasses the full breadth of business management within the entertainment industry, including casino and gaming system management, venue operations and marketing. Graduates will thrive in the recent explosion of the entertainment management industry.

BA in Sport Marketing

Problem solving, communication and leadership are just a few of the core skills students acquire in the Sport Marketing track. From the fundamental elements of brand management to the professional sport and its commoditisation, students learn all the essentials of marketing in the athletic arena.

BA in Sport and Event Facility Management

This track prepares students to enter the exciting industry of Sport and Event Facility Management, allowing for a wide range of opportunities. Students gain an understanding of the cultural traditions of global sport and its commercial evolution. Upon completion of their degrees, programme participants demonstrate a competency for the development, implementation and management of small to large-scale venues.

Associate Degree in Event, Sport and Entertainment Administration

This 2-year programme prepares students for 1 of the 3 BA degree track options offered at Glion. Students build their base knowledge of the industry, while developing their communication skills and awareness of the business culture. The combination of hands-on, internship experience and practical learning helps prepare students to further their studies in the field or begin their career.

Postgraduate Event, Sport and Entertainment Programme

The Postgraduate Event, Sport and Entertainment Management programme is designed for professionals who already have a degree or work experience, and are looking to make a career change. With a curriculum that is specially tailored to each student's individual needs, this programme gives professionals the edge they need to succeed.

Students who have a Bachelor's degree can choose from 2 tracks to pursue their postgraduate studies:

  • Postgraduate Certificate - The fast track, 1 semester + internship
    - Event, Sport and Entertainment Operations
    - Sport Operations
  • Postgraduate Diploma - More extensive, 2 semesters + internship
    - Event, Sport and Entertainment Administration
    - Sport Administration
  • Postgraduate Higher Diploma - Comprehensive, 3 semesters + internship
    - Event, Sport and Entertainment Management
    - Sport Management

Students without a Bachelor's degree can choose from one of the following programmes:

  • Professional Development Certificate - The fast track, 1 semester + internship
    - Event, Sport and Entertainment Operations
    - Sport Operations
  • Professional Development Diploma - More extensive, 2 semesters + internship
    - Event, Sport and Entertainment Administration
    - Sport Administration
  • Professional Higher Diploma - Comprehensive, 3 semesters + internship
    - Event, Sport and Entertainment Management
    - Sport Management

Typically, the Postgraduate Certificate and Diploma tracks comprise courses of the Associate Degree programme. In addition, the Postgraduate Higher Diploma includes six courses chosen from the Hospitality Management Bachelor degree, as well as the Event, Sport and Entertainment Bachelor degree programmes.


An Emphasis on Internships

Hands-on experience is an integral part of the Event, Sport and Entertainment Management programmes. All Glion students benefit from at least one internship of 3 to 6 months.

Glion offers a wide range of exciting programmes to develop your management skills and allow you to explore the fascinating world of events, sports and entertainment.

For Competitive Athletes: Compete and Study

Glion accommodates competitive athletes who are earning their degree by giving them the flexibility to focus on training as they study. The Compete and Study programme was created for athletes who want to be prepared for their post-competitive life. Renowned for its athletic facilities and sporting centres, the region surrounding Glion has attracted some of the world's most prestigious competitors. Athletes who play both winter and summer sports are drawn to the area's first-class mountain resorts. More than 40 international sport federations based in Switzerland, including:

  • International Olympic Committee
  • International Water Ski Federation
  • International Hockey Federation
  • International Canoe Federation

Competing students can take less classes each semester for a longer period of time, or delay a semester when necessary. Please note that students on the Compete and Study track must complete all of the course requirements for their degree. Glion does not offer credits for training or competition.

Intern as an Instructor

Glion is proud to offer students a variety of internship opportunities. We have partnerships with different venues and organisations around the world. Students who are skilled in either tennis or skiing can take advantage of the nearby resorts that offer the following training programmes:

Ski Instructor - The Warren Smith Ski Academy trains students at Verbier, a world class ski resort located about 60 minutes from the Glion campus.

Tennis Instructor - Students are trained at the nearby mountain resort Leysin, home of the California Tennis Academy.
