According to the graduation data from December 2012, 100% of Glion’s students received one or more job offers upon graduation.
Glion Institute of Higher Education has released information on graduates’ success based on a study conducted by the University in December 2012, focusing on the employability of the 192 graduates from its Bachelor program. According to the study, 100% of the students who were looking for jobs – in this case 86% of the graduating class – each received one or more job offers before their diplomas were even granted. The remaining 14% chose to either continue their education by pursuing a graduate degree or to take a year off, with a few returning to their home countries to comply with mandatory military service. The data confirms previous trends of high employability and successful career path followed by Glion Alumni.
“Graduates of Glion’s Bachelors program have a specific profile that is highly attractive to potential employers,” said Arie van der Spek, Interim CEO of Glion Institute of Higher Education. “Their hospitality training includes theoretical and hands-on learning, which, along with their 1-year cumulative internships, allow them to develop concrete skills honed in real-world situations and hit the ground running when they start working.”
The Bachelor’s program at Glion offers a selective management track pursued by 48% of all Glion’s students. This program, highly regarded by the hospitality industry, prepares students for a variety of career options. According to schools’ data, 13.6% of graduates in the management program hold positions in sales or marketing while 11.4% choose room division. Other graduates are currently working in the restaurant business or in the areas of human resources, finance, or events management.
“Glion graduates demonstrate a broad range of their education when they join IHG hotels,” said Andrew Nelson, Graduate Program Manager, Europe at the InterContinental Hotel Group. “They know how to present themselves and the topics they are working on. Their specialization commences at Glion and is completed at the hotel. Glion has the ability to train their students in the right way and they are able to use the state-of-the-art software and hardware currently used at our properties.”
Every semester, Glion students continue to attract great interest from the industry. Over 50 representatives from the hospitality industry, including highly reputed brands such as Mandarin Oriental, Starwood Hotels and Resorts, InterContinental, Four Seasons, Hilton Worldwide, Marriott and Hyatt, visit Glion to recruit from our graduating class.
Glion works closely with the hotel and tourism industries to prepare students to meet the its current needs. “We are honoured to have a board of directors, comprised of professionals in the industry, who contribute to our efforts in maintaining our curriculum and teaching experience up to date.”
According to a report published by the World Travel and Tourism Council, the hotel and tourism industries would create more than 69 million new jobs in the next 10 years. “Glion brings the academic experience to our students that will prepare them to seize opportunities that enable them to become leaders in one of the most promising industries in the world,” added van der Spek.
