It’s the established home of luxury hospitality and, yet again, London has been recognized as the best city for international students. But what makes it so popular? We take a look at why the inimitable UK capital retained the number one spot, and why it’s one of the top locations to build a hospitality career.

Aside from being one of the most vibrant, culturally diverse and centrally located cities in the world, London has quite a few student-specific benefits that make it so popular. Students rate the high quality of teaching, the safe and welcoming environment, and the employment opportunities both during and after studies.

Ranking criteria

Home to the Glion London School of International Hospitality Business, as well as several other leading universities including UCL (University College London), Imperial College London, and King’s College London, the UK capital offers a range institutions and courses to international students.

As well as University Rankings, the QS cities survey assessed at a further five categories: Student Mix, Desirability, Employer Activity, Affordability, and Student View. Only cities with two universities in the QS Rankings and a population of over 250,000 and are considered.

Studying hospitality in London

Glion student, Hannah Marie Tatam, has been studying a Bachelor’s in International Hospitality Business at London, and is loving life in the UK capital. “London is a great study destination for many reasons. Since the city is a major capital and well-known for luxury, it gives us a wonderful opportunity to experience true hospitality, luxury and tourism”, she said.

“Living in London is a multicultural experience, it has something to offer for everyone, such as great food options, culture, history and art. It is truly a magical and cosmopolitan city that is so diverse – all of which makes it one of the most international cities.”

‘Unbeatable career and employment opportunities’
