Famous names, luxury products, iconic destinations… here are five great internship stories

In a “buyer’s market” for jobs, real-world professional experience is a precious commodity. Our Bachelor students graduate with a full year of employment history alongside a highly-regarded degree, thanks to the two internships which are built into the curriculum.

Our four Master’ programs, meanwhile, all feature a six-month internship to accompany their year of academic study.

How do these internships work? Where do students go and what do they learn? We’ve gathered five stories where our students offer some answers, in their own words.

Pablo André Grütter – Bulgari Hotel, Dubai

Bachelor student Pablo hadn’t visited the Middle East before, so his first BBA internship was a cultural – as well as professional – learning curve. Working in the F&B area of the luxurious Bulgari Hotel, he got to serve some famous guests and made a great start to building his all-important hospitality contact book. Read his story here.

Julien Pugin – Rolex, Geneva

Swiss-born Julien didn’t have to stray too far to land an internship at one of the world’s most celebrated watch brands, Rolex. Already set on a career in events, this BBA student gained invaluable first-hand experience working on events connected with Rolex sports sponsorships, including tennis and Formula 1. Read all about it here.

Eva Baas – Amantaka, Laos

For Dutch Master’s student Eva this really was a case of learning while living your dream! At Amantaka in Laos, part of the ultra-luxe Aman Resorts portfolio, Eva was able to join a brand she’d always wanted to experience in a region where she’d always wanted to work. She tells her story here.

Carla Martinesi – BMF Media, New York

Bachelor student Carla has a passion for photography and a professional interest in marketing… and she managed to combine both with an internship at BMF Media. It also meant a chance to live and work in New York! Carla’s now looking to forge a career in experiential marketing, putting what she learned in the classroom, and on internship, into practice. Check out Carla’s Big Apple experience here.

Dalal Alhamrani – Four Seasons Hotel George V, Paris

Saudi-born Master’s student Dalal had a host of internship offers to choose from. But when one of the world’s most iconic hotels comes calling it is hard to resist. Overcoming the challenge of not being fluent in French through sheer hard work and determination, Dalal took to her frontline customer-facing role with enthusiasm. Her story has a wonderful postscript too – but you’ll have to read it to find out!
