Start dates are available on our website.

In which language are the courses?

Exclusively in English.

Where and when do the courses take place?

All courses happen online at

Courses are available from midnight on Mondays (00:00 UTC) on the day shown on the course page. Each week contains several activities built from a sequence of straightforward steps.

Each week is given a descriptive name, so you know what to expect. You can move through the weeks at your own pace.
Once a course has started, you will be able to access the course material and study at any time you like. You do not need to be online at the same time as the lead educator or other students.

After the start date, you will be able to access the course from Your learning, your dedicated learning space in Futurelearn: Your learning.

Can anyone sign up for a course?

You don’t need formal qualifications to take our courses. You might need specialist equipment or a level of understanding of a subject for some courses – we will tell you this on the course information page, in the Participants profile section.

Can I join a course that has already started?

No, if you join late, the bulk of the conversations around the course topics might have already taken place and moved on. It is best to join at the start so you can get involved with discussions and have your questions answered by other learners and course educators.

Learners have to complete the course within the dedicated period as shown on the website: Most courses will run again.

How many courses can I take?

There is no limit on the number of courses you can take.

Can I leave a course?

Yes. You can leave a course you have signed up to at your dedicated learning space in Futurelearn: Your learning.

A course is not refundable once you have joined it.

How can I find out more about a course before it starts?

We publish descriptions of our courses, along with trailers which give an insight into the areas to be explored during the course. Where necessary, educators also provide a recommended reading list for learners to study before the course begins.

What happens if I miss a week?

The course and the platform are designed to be flexible, so you can learn at your own pace. If you are too busy to study the course material one week, do not worry – you can catch up and complete those steps next time you sign in. The courses are currently two weeks long. If you miss the first week, you will have to catch up in the second week.

In any case you have to complete the course in the dedicated period, usually two weeks (or as shown on the website)

Do I need to be available at specific times?

No. The courses are split into weeks, each week contains several activities, and these are made up of short tasks that you can do at a time (and pace) that best suits you.
