The 2nd Annual Symposium of the MBA Key Lecture Series
This series is a collaborative effort between Swiss Universities that explores five key areas of importance for future leaders.
The MBA Key Lecture Series is a collaborative effort between the Swiss Universities of Applied Sciences: HEIG-VD Yverdon-les-Bains, HEG Arc Neuchatel, and Les Roches-Gruyere together with the Glion Institute of Higher Education, Bulle. The series explores five key areas of importance for future leaders: creativity – innovation; vision - project management; ethics – values; sustainable development and; performance- results.
This year’s symposium, held on the campus of HEG Arc, Swiss University of Applied Sciences, brought together distinguished experts and practitioners from business and academia to present and discuss performance metrics with approximately 130 Masters students in two interactive panel discussions.
1st Panel Discussion moderated by: Bruno EECKELS:
- Odile Criblez Gruaz, After 20 years of international marketing experience within key multinational players including Swatch Group and Novartis, furthered by four years of managing French-Swiss section of the Academy of the Swiss Institute of Certified Accountants and Tax Consultants Ltd, Ms Criblez-Gruaz’ career changed direction. Her focus today is individual development and coaching, personal marketing and job search advice in addition to lecturing within the HES-SO system.
- Andreas Doering, Entrepreneur and founder of Heidi.com, specialized in streetwear and urban clothing, a successful SME gone international. A Hospitality school graduate, Mr. Doering built on his experience in marketing and communication as well as graphics before turning entrepreneur.
- Martin Senior, started his early career in the UK hospitality industry before moving onto training and then education, gaining his PhD in Marketing. Dr Senior’s current research interests revolve around the challenges faced by managers and students working together online across country and cultural boundaries.
2nd Panel Discussion moderated by Hilary MURPHY:
- Graziella Zanoletti, CIO of Elite Rent-a Car www.eliterent.com, entrepreneur and founder of Friends of Humanity, a not-for-profit company active worldwide in the following areas: education, health, environment, micro-credit and human rights.
- Kristin Engvig, Having started out with major multinational companies like JPMorgan, Citibank and Innovation Norway, Ms. Engvig saw and felt that there was a gap in our workplaces and how we dealt with each other and the world at large Her response was to found the W.I.N annual global leadership and networking program (www.winconference.net) engaging thousands of participants worldwide.
- Mary Farmer, Lecturer at the Glion Institute of Higher Education and online MBA Faculty member, Ms Farmer is the former Director Global Diversity and Inclusion at Philips. An acknowledged expert in gender and diversity, she has been a member of the European Institute for Managing Diversity for many years, and is the former President of the European Professional Women’s Network in Amsterdam and is a member of Women in the Lead and Canadian Women in Communications in Canada. She has served on the Board of the Netherlands Canadian Chamber of Commerce.
- The organizers, Dr Zarina Charlesworth and Dr Lyn Glanz aim to provide students with a unique opportunity to interact with professionals. They say “Students value the opportunity to hear the stories of real life performance issues and to ask pertinent and challenging questions directly to people who have hands on experience of initiating exciting business ventures or start-up organizations”.
