Privacy policy for www.glion.edu

The website www.glion.edu (the “Site”) is operated under the Glion Institute of Higher Education name by GIHE Sàrl, a company registered in Switzerland at Chemin du Pierrier 1, 1815 Clarens.

In this Privacy Policy, references to “you” mean any person submitting any data to us or to the Site.
Data protection is a matter of trust and your privacy is important to us. We shall therefore only collect and use your name and other information which relate to you in the manner set out in this Privacy Policy.

We will only keep your information for as long as we are either required to by law or as is relevant for the purposes for which it was collected and we have implemented reasonable technical and organizational security measures to protect personal data collected by us via the Site against unauthorized access, misuse, loss or destruction.

You can visit the Site and browse without having to provide personal details. During your visit to the Site you remain anonymous and at no time can we identify you unless you have an account on the Site and log on with your user name and password.

Data we collect

When you visit the Site, our web server automatically records details about your visit, that does not, on its own, permit direct association with any specific individual including but not limited to your IP address, the web site from which you visit us, the advertisements on which you have clicked, the type of browser software used, the pages that you actually visit including the date and duration of your visit (non-personal information) – See “Cookies” section below.

In addition, we will collect, store and process the personal data you provide to us when you create an account and/or in order for us to:

  • Process your request for information, contact, or a visit; or
  • Process your online application for one of our academic programs, or
  • Provide you with our services.

We may collect your title, name, gender, email address, postal address, telephone number, mobile number and other information related to you, your education level and personal health, for admissions purposes.

Glion doesn’t seek to collect personal data from individuals under age of 18 or equivalent minimum age in the relevant jurisdiction. Individuals under age of 18 or equivalent minimum age in the relevant jurisdiction should receive permission from their parent or legal guardian before providing any personal data to us on the Site.

Use of your personal information

We may collect, use, transfer, and disclose non-personal information for any purpose. If we do combine non-personal information with personal information the combined information will be treated as personal information for as long as it remains combined.

We will use the personal information you provide to enable us to process your application and to provide you with the information and services which you requested.

Furthermore, we will use the personal information you provide to administer your account with us; audit the downloading of data from our Site; improve the layout and/or content of the pages of our Site and customise them for users; identify visitors on our Site; carry out research on our users’ demographics; send you information we think you may find useful or which you have requested from us, including information about our products and services, provided you have indicated that you have not objected to being contacted for these purposes. If you prefer not to receive any marketing communications from us, you can opt out at any time.

We may also use your personal information for opinion and market research. Your details are anonymous and will only be used for statistical purposes. You can choose to opt out of this at any time. Any answers to surveys or opinion polls GLION may ask you to complete will not be forwarded on to third parties.

Disclosing your email address is necessary if you would like to take part in competitions. For any competition, we use the data to notify winners and advertise our offers. You can find more details where applicable in our participation terms for the respective competition.

Third parties and links

We may pass your details to other companies in our group (Sommet Education group). We may also pass your details to our agents and subcontractors to help us with any of our uses of your data set out in our Privacy Policy. For example, we share personal information with companies who provide services such as information processing, fulfilling customer orders, delivering products to you, managing and enhancing customer data, providing customer service, assessing your interest in our products and services, and conducting customer research or satisfaction surveys. These companies are obligated to protect your information and may be located wherever Sommet Education group operates. Any information collected and used to contact consumers for marketing and operational purposes is used only by Glion and its affiliates. Persons who supply us with their telephone numbers or email addresses online may receive telephone or email contact from us with information regarding special promotions, new products and services, or upcoming events about Glion and its affiliates. Glion and its affiliates will not release, sell, rent, or trade that personal information to any third party. Please note that telephone calls to and from Glion may be monitored for quality assurance and training purposes. Other than as set out in this Privacy Policy, we shall NOT disclose your personal data to third parties without obtaining your prior consent unless this is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy or unless we are required to do so by law.

The Site may contain advertising of third parties and links to other sites or frames of other sites. Please be aware that we are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those third parties or other sites, nor for any third party to whom we transfer your data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
