Our Mission

Aligned with Glion Institute of Higher Education’s vision and mission, our research strategy is centred around achieving research excellence through a practical problem-oriented approach. We are committed to building and developing our faculty’s research capabilities, expanding our research network to engage with the broader academic and non-academic communities and industries, and ensuring that our research has demonstrable impact within industries and communities. Through the pursuit of this mission, we aim to position Glion Institute of Higher Education as a leader in research excellence, fostering a culture of innovation and sustainability, and making a positive and lasting impact on industries, communities, and society as a whole.

Why applied research?

Recognizing the value that research brings to the intellectual growth and development of both faculty and students, Glion Institute focuses its efforts to prioritize and re-establish a robust research agenda. By integrating research into our Glion culture, we aspire to create a dynamic and intellectually stimulating environment that nurtures creativity, critical thinking, and knowledge generation. This emphasis on research not only enhances the scholarly contributions of our faculty but also empowers our students to engage in innovative and industry-relevant applied research projects, that enhances their employability.

  1. Strengthening Reputation and Visibility: Engaging in research activities enhances Glion’s reputation as a leading institution in the field of hospitality education. It demonstrates our commitment to academic excellence and innovation
  2. Faculty Development and Talent Management: Research opportunities provide valuable avenues for faculty development. Engaging in research activities enables faculty members to enhance their expertise, contribute to their fields, and stay updated with the latest advancements. This, in turn, fosters a vibrant academic community and promotes talent retention.
  3. Enhancing Graduates’ Employability: Research skills are highly valued by employers across various industries. Graduates who have been exposed to research activities possess critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills, making them more competitive and employable in the job market.
  4. Industry Partnerships: Building a strong research culture and expertise opens doors to collaboration with industry partners. Research projects and initiatives provide opportunities for meaningful engagement with the industry, leading to valuable partnerships, knowledge exchange, and industry-relevant research outcomes.

Collaborative research projects foster a sense of community, encourage interdisciplinary approaches, and promote inclusivity by involving diverse perspectives and expertise.
  6. Accreditation: Research plays a crucial role in obtaining and maintaining accreditation. Accrediting bodies often require institutions to demonstrate a strong research culture and a commitment to advancing knowledge in their respective fields.

GRIC Governance

At Glion Institute of Higher Education, we place a strong emphasis on maintaining high standards of quality assurance and governance for our research activities. We understand that effective oversight and adherence to ethical guidelines are essential to ensure the credibility and integrity of our research endeavours .

Research Committee is responsible to provide oversight, strategic guidance, and direction to the Glion Research and Innovation Centre (GRIC) in alignment with its mission and the organization’s objectives, as well as in accordance with the recommendations from the Research Advisory Board and the Research Expert Panel. This involves overseeing the research agenda and ensuring its alignment with the recommendations from these advisory bodies. Additionally, the committee should inform the teaching and learning of research within the institution.

The committee shares insights on emerging research developments and future opportunities. Another key responsibility is facilitating connections with the external research community, thereby enhancing the institution’s research capabilities and outreach. Through these activities, the committee supports GRIC in fulfilling its mission and advancing the organization’s research objectives.
