In motorsport, grid positions are often decided by thousandths of seconds. Teams spend fortunes each season attempting to shave a few tenths off their cars’ lap times. Even the most famous race of them all – the Le Mans 24 Hours – owes its identity to the demand for cars and drivers to race twice around the clock.
Time is thus the very essence of the racing game. And that makes the racetrack a rich playground for watchmakers to both display their timekeeping prowess and add luster to their motorsport-inspired pieces.
