Nestled in a private mansion at number 4 rue Cimarosa in the 16th arrondissement of Paris, Maison Epigenetic is a place where scientific and technological innovations are brought together to help people take charge of their health. Our correspondent Marc-Antoine Gamelin discovers more…

Although only 15% of our genes are immutable, the audacity and passion for entrepreneurship are 100% anchored in those of Xavier Rambaud. Already on his second startup since graduating from Glion in 2016, Xavier is co-founder of Maison Epigenetic, a ‘green bubble’ dedicated to the harmony of our body and mind.

Xavier’s Bachelor studies at Glion gave him the tools to start working quickly and confirm his vocation for entrepreneurship. His innate sense of service, beauty, and goodness, with a touch of the unusual, was refined after stints at Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas in Abu Dhabi, the Bristol Paris and then working on the opening of La Réserve in Paris.

After graduation, Xavier flew to Baden Baden, Germany, and joined the Oetker Collection group as a Business Analyst, before changing tack to create his own company in the form of Triptwin, a digital hotel reservation platform that allowed its users to ‘match’ themselves to the hotel that best corresponded to their profile and desires.

A first adventure at 23, and one in which he experienced the difficulty of staying healthy amid the pressure of entrepreneurship. Xavier then realized his primary motivation: to enhance the health of each individual and provide the keys to a personalized lifestyle – the ‘Epigenetic Lifestyle’. This led to the creation of Maison Epigenetic, which was launched at the beginning of this year.

“Epigenetics opens a new page in health, a preventive, predictive and integrative health that works with all the ingredients already present in our body. As the first house of epigenetics in the world and a specialist in the prevention and maintenance of our vitality, Maison Epigenetic has the ambition optimize the health of our members for now and the future.”

What is Epigenetics?

Epigenetics, or the study of changes in gene activity, is based on a revolutionary observation: that 85% of our genes changes according to our lifestyle. In order to stay healthy and protect ourselves against disease, we need to work on the five inseparable pillars of epigenetics: nutrition, stress management, sport, community and optimism.

Thanks to advances in health tech, it is now possible to perform a holistic Epigenetic Assessment which enables a person’s epigenetic age to be estimated. A technological feat and a world first for Maison Epigenetic, this non-invasive test protocol accurately assesses biological, cognitive, arterial, physical and other ages before offering each person a tailor-made program to boost their vitality.

Maison Epigenetic is a place that implements the five pillars of epigenetics on a daily basis and in an urban environment. It is an avant-garde space, featuring filtered air and purified water. In this serene setting, personal coaches and cutting edge equipment allow members to stimulate their bodies through innovative practices.

Among these is The Vasper System, a futuristic exercise bicycle which incorporates compression and liquid cooling technology, including ice armbands originally designed for NASA. Its bespoke, 21-minute interval training program stimulates the pituitary gland to secrete a synthesis of anabolic hormones such as growth hormone (the magic hormone of cellular regeneration), melatonin… while also producing a decrease in cortisol (the stress hormone) – all of which is equivalent to the effects of more than two hours of intensive exercise.

The counselors at Epigenetic House help clients to manage stress through meditation exercises, massage, acupuncture, light therapy and breathing. These are all sources of well-being for the nervous system.

On a nutritional level, a demanding assessment allows the individual to rebalance deficiencies and excesses with food supplements, fasts and nutritional cures. Themed dinners, temporary exhibitions, healthy cooking workshops and conferences allow people to exchange, share and learn from others. As for the last pillar, optimism, ‘body positivism’ workshops allow each individual to accept themselves as they are.

Xavier notes, “Epigenetics opens a new page in health, a preventive, predictive and integrative health that works with all the ingredients already present in our body. As the first house of epigenetics in the world and a specialist in the prevention and maintenance of our vitality, Maison Epigenetic has the ambition optimize the health of our members for now and the future, thanks to the application of our know-how in data and AI.”
