The spa and wellness sector is growing rapidly worldwide. In order to meet new user demands and stay ahead of the competition, business leaders need a systematic approach to the organization of their operations.
Developed and delivered by Mariana Palmeiro, the Excellence in Spa Operations course provides an actionable framework for organizational structure and teaches proven techniques to maximize sales. Designed for General Managers, Operations Managers and Spa Managers, participants will learn industry-leading yielding practices, SOPs and strategies for today’s spa and wellness market.
5 hours / week
This course establishes the different types of spa and industry competition, whilst providing a framework for organizational structure and staffing needs.
On the second section of the course we learn about revenue streams in the business and the yielding practices used to maximize sales.
The content is relevant to today’s market conditions and competition strategies.
Differentiate types of spas and wellness centers.
Describe the main SOP and standard policies in a wellness center.
Map the organization structure of a spa.
Analyse the main revenue generating areas in a spa and how to manage these effectively.
Develop HR practices and development / training needs in a spa.
Expand the wellness programs to the hotel operations and services.

Prerequisites: Professional experience in hospitality or in a spa. Bachelor in a hospitality related degree.
Meet the faculty
Mariana is an experienced spa and wellness expert heading the Glion Wellness to Business center. She has spent the last 10 years in Asia working on various development projects and spa and hotel operations.
Mariana finished a Master of Management in Hospitality from Cornell University in 2007 and moved to Asia to work for the renowned Mandara Spa. As a Project Manager, she has successfully developed and opened multiple spas and wellness resorts. She has been very active in the luxury end of hospitality, focusing on inspiring segments such as: wellness retreats design and development, sustainable growth strategies, and spa training and branding. Mariana has also worked as a General Manager for hotel management companies at leading hotels, such as Peppers Seminyak in Bali and various Mantra Groups properties in Indonesia and in Southeast Asia.
